Suhar ist eine Stadt im nordöstlichen Oman am Golf von Oman, 230 km nordwestlich der Hauptstadt Maskat. Sie ist die wichtigste Stadt der Küstenebene Batinah.
Der Golf von Oman ist der nordwestliche Arm des Arabischen Meeres, das über die Straße von Hormuz mit dem Persischen Golf verbunden ist. Er ist 560 km lang und fällt in der Tiefe von Westen (50 m) nach Osten (200 m) stark ab.
