Der Kailash (offizielle Bezeichnung: Kangrinboqê Feng; Tibetisch in Wylie-Transliteration: gangs rin po che; Chinesisch: 冈仁波齐峰, Pinyin: Gāngrénbōqí Fēng) ist ein 6714 Meter hoher Berg im Transhimalaya in Tibet (China). Seine Spitze hat eine außergewöhnlich symmetrische Form und gleicht einer Pyramide, die ganzjährig mit Schnee bedeckt ist.
Das Indian Astronomical Observatory (Indisches Astronomisches Observatorium) befindet sich auf dem Mount Saraswati im West-Himalaya nahe dem indischen Ort Hanle in Jammu und Kashmir und wird vom Indischen Institut für Astrophysik betrieben. Es befindet sich bei auf einer Höhe von 4500 m und hat damit das höchstgelegene Teleskop der Welt.
