King Peninsula (Antarctica)

King Peninsula () is an ice-covered peninsula, 100 miles long and 20 miles wide, lying south of Thurston Island and forming the south side of Peacock Sound. It projects from the continental ice sheet and trends west between the Abbot Ice Shelf and Cosgrove Ice Shelf to terminate at Amundsen Sea.

Abbot Ice Shelf (Antarctica)

The Abbot Ice Shelf () is an ice shelf 400 km (250 mi) long and 64 km (40 mi) wide, bordering Eights Coast from Cape Waite to Phrogner Point. Thurston Island lies along the northern edge of the western half of this ice shelf; other sizable islands (Sherman, Carpenter, Dustin, Johnson, McNamara, Farwell and Dendtler) lie partly or wholly within it.

Walker Mountains (Antarctica)

Walker Mountains () is a range of peaks and nunataks which are fairly well separated but trend east-west to form the axis, or spine, of Thurston Island. They were discovered by Rear Admiral Byrd and members of the US Antarctic Service (USAS) in a flight from the ship Bear on February 27, 1940.

Sherman Island (Antarctica)

Sherman Island () is an ice-covered island of Antarctica about 51 km (32 mi) long and 16 km (10 mi) wide, lying south of Thurston Island in the middle of Peacock Sound. The feature rises above the Abbot Ice Shelf which occupies the sound.

Thurston Island (Antarctica)

Thurston Island () is an ice-covered, glacially dissected island, 215 km long, 90 km wide and 15,700 km² in area, lying a short way off the NW end of Ellsworth Land, Antarctica. The island is separated from the mainland by Peacock Sound, which is occupied by the western portion of Abbot Ice Shelf.
