About PINTOMAP Ford Ranges (Antarctica)The Ford Ranges () is a grouping of mountain ranges standing east of Sulzberger Ice Shelf and Block Bay in the northwest part of Marie Byrd Land, Antarctica. Discovered by the Byrd Antarctic Expedition on December 5, 1929, and named by Byrd for Edsel Ford of the Ford Motor Company, who helped finance the expedition. Mackay Mountains (Antarctica)Mackay Mountains () is a prominent group of peaks 10 miles south of the Allegheny Mountains in the Ford Ranges, Marie Byrd Land. They were discovered by the Byrd Antarctic Expedition in 1934, and named for Clarence Mackay of the Postal Telegraph and Mackay Radio Companies, who was a benefactor of the expedition. Clark Mountains (Antarctica)Clark Mountains () is a group of low mountains rising above 1,200 m located in the Ford Ranges, Marie Byrd Land. They were discovered and photographed on aerial flights in 1940 by the US Antarctic Service (USAS) and named for Clark University, Worcester, MA. Crevasse Valley Glacier (Antarctica)Crevasse Valley Glacier () is a broad glacier about 30 miles long, flowing west-southwest between Chester Mountains and Saunders Mountain to Sulzberger Ice Shelf in Marie Byrd Land. It was discovered by a sledging party of the Byrd Antarctic Expedition, which visited this area in November-December 1934, and so named because of its extensively crevassed surface. Fosdick Mountains (Antarctica)The Fosdick Mountains () is an East-West trending mountain range with marked serrate outlines, standing along the south side of Balchen Glacier at the head of Block Bay, in the Ford Ranges of Marie Byrd Land. Mount Byrd (Antarctica)Mount Byrd () is a mountain (810 m) located 1 mile (1.6 km) north of the east end of Asman Ridge in the Sarnoff Mountains, Ford Ranges, Marie Byrd Land. Hammond Glacier (Antarctica)The Hammond Glacier () is located on the NE side of the Haines Mountains, flowing NW for about 40 mi to Sulzberger Ice Shelf in the Ford Ranges, Marie Byrd Land. Discovered in 1934 by the Byrd Antarctic Expedition, and named by Byrd for John Hays Hammond, American mining engineer and philanthropist.
