About PINTOMAP Mount Ray (Antarctica)Mount Ray is a mountain located 2.4 km southeast of Mount Fisher in the Prince Olav Mountains. Mount Fisher (Antarctica)Mount Fisher is a domed, snow-capped summit standing 3 km northwest of Mount Ray in the Prince Olav Mountains of Antarctica. The second highest peak of the range after Mount Wade (4,085m). Mount Campbell (Antarctica)}} Mount Wade (Antarctica)}} Mount Oliver (Antarctica) (Antarctica)}} Mount Markham (Antarctica)Markham, Mount Mount Sellery (Antarctica)Mount Sellery is a prominent peak between Mounts Oliver and Smithson in the Prince Olav Mountains. Discovered and photographed by Byrd on the Baselaying Flight of November 18, 1929, and surveyed by A. Ross Ice Shelf (Antarctica)The Ross Ice Shelf () is the largest ice shelf of Antarctica (an area of roughly 487 000 km2, and about 800 km across: about the size of France). It is several hundred meters thick. Roosevelt Island, Antarctica (Antarctica)Roosevelt Island () is an ice-covered island, about 130 km long in a NW-SE direction, 65 km wide and about 7,500 km2 in area, lying in the E part of the Ross Ice Shelf of Antarctica. Its central ridge rises to about 550 m above sea level. Transantarctic Mountains (Antarctica)The Transantarctic Mountains () are a mountain range in Antarctica which extend with some interruptions between Cape Adare and Coats Land, these mountains serving as the division between East Antarctica and West Antarctica. Included are the continuous but separately named mountain groups along the west side of the Ross Sea and the western and southern sides of Ross Ice Shelf; also the Horlick Mountains, the Thiel Mountains, Pensacola Mountains, Shackleton Range and Theron Mountains. Prince Olav Mountains (Antarctica)The Prince Olav Mountains () is a mountain range of the Queen Maud Mountains stretching from Shackleton Glacier to Liv Glacier at the head of the Ross Ice Shelf. Herbert Range (Antarctica)The Herbert Range () is a mountain range in the Queen Maud Mountains of Antarctica, extending from the edge of the polar plateau to the Ross Ice Shelf between the Axel Heiberg and Strom glaciers. Shackleton Glacier (Antarctica)Shackleton Glacier () is a major Antarctic glacier, over 96 km (60 mi) long and from 8 to 16 km (5 to 10 mi) wide, descending from the polar plateau from the vicinity of Roberts Massif and flowing north through the Queen Maud Mountains to enter the Ross Ice Shelf between Mount Speed and Waldron Spurs. The Roberts Massif is a remarkable snow-free massif exceeding 2,700 metres and about 60 square miles in area. Axel Heiberg Glacier (Antarctica)The Axel Heiberg Glacier is a valley glacier, 48 km (30 mi) long, descending from the polar plateau to the Ross Ice Shelf between the Herbert Range and Mount Don Pedro Christophersen, in the Queen Maud Mountains. Its coordinates are . Queen Maud Mountains (Antarctica)The Queen Maud Mountains () are a major group of mountains, ranges and subordinate features of the Transantarctic Mountains, lying between the Beardmore and Reedy Glaciers and including the area from the head of the Ross Ice Shelf to the polar plateau. Captain Roald Amundsen and his South Pole party ascended Axel Heiberg Glacier near the central part of this group in November 1911, naming these mountains for Queen Maud of Norway. Quarles Range (Antarctica)Quarles Range () is a high and rugged range of the Queen Maud Mountains, extending from the polar plateau between Cooper and Bowman Glaciers and terminating near the edge of Ross Ice Shelf. Peaks in the range were first sighted by Captain Roald Amundsen in 1911, and the range was mapped in detail by the Byrd Antarctic Expedition, 1928-30. Amundsen Glacier (Antarctica)Amundsen Glacier () is a major Antarctic glacier, about 6 to 10 km (4 to 6 mi) wide and 128 km (80 mi) long, originating on the polar plateau where it drains the area to the south and west of Nilsen Plateau, and descending through the Queen Maud Mountains to enter the Ross Ice Shelf just west of the MacDonald Nunataks. Devils Glacier (Antarctica)Devils Glacier () is a heavily crevassed glacier at the edge of the polar plateau, about 20 miles (32 km) long and 8 miles (13 km) wide, draining the south part of the Mohn Basin and flowing northeast to enter the upper part of Amundsen Glacier just north of the mountain group consisting of Mounts Wisting, Hassel, Bjaaland and Prestrud. List of Antarctic and sub-Antarctic islands (Antarctica)This is a List of antarctic and sub-antarctic islands. Sub-antarctic islands are islands in the Southern Ocean around Antarctica north of the Antarctic Circle (66° 33' 38"). | ||
