It lies (at the tip of the finger-like Karpass Peninsula) inside the Turkish-Cypriot administered area of North Cyprus (known locally as the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, which so far is only recognized as sovereign by one nation and a small number of sub-national entities).
