ウクライナ（ウクライナ語：Україна、英：Ukraine）は東ヨーロッパの国。東でロシア、南で黒海、西でハンガリーやポーランド、スロバキア、ルーマニア、モルドバ、北でベラルーシに接し、ウクライナのクリミア半島にはクリミア自治共和国がある。旧ソビエト連邦の中では比較的発展していた国。スラヴ系の民族が住み、文化的にはポーランドなど東ヨーロッパの国々との関係が深い。なお旧ソ連時代から、ソ連とは別枠で国際連合（国連）の原加盟国であった。
ルーマニアは、東ヨーロッパの国。セルビア、ハンガリー、ウクライナ、モルドバ、ブルガリアと国境を接し、黒海に面している。首都はブカレスト。国旗は公式の縦横比も含めてチャドの国旗と酷似しているが、ル－マニアの国旗のほうが、青色が若干薄い。1989年の民主化までは国旗の中央に共産党政権時代の国章があしらわれており、両国の国旗は容易に区別できた。
ベラルーシ共和国（ベラルーシきょうわこく）、通称ベラルーシは、東ヨーロッパの国。ロシア、ウクライナ、ポーランド、リトアニア、ラトヴィアと国境を接する。首都はミンスク。旧ソビエト連邦から独立した。なお、国際連合（国連）にはソ連時代からソ連とは別枠で加盟していた。
リトアニア、正式名称リトアニア共和国は、ヨーロッパ北東部の国である。バルト海に面して並ぶバルト三国の内の一つであり、
モルドバ共和国（モルドバきょうわこく）、通称モルドバは、東ヨーロッパの内陸国で、西はルーマニアと、他の三方はウクライナと国境を接する。旧ソビエト連邦を構成していた国家の一つであった。
オデッサ（ウクライナ語: オデーサ、ロシア語： アヂェーッサ）は、ウクライナ南部、黒海に面した港湾都市である。オデッサ州の州都であり、横浜市と姉妹都市提携を結んでいる。

ドニプロペトロフシク（ウクライナ語：Дніпропетровськドニプロペトローウスィク ,Dnipropetrovs'k ／ロシア語：Днепропетровскドニプロピトローフスク ,Dnepropetrovsk）は、ウクライナの都市で、ドニプロペトロフシク州（地方管区）の州都。日本では「ドニプロペトロフスク」、あるいはロシア語名に基づいた「ドニエプロペトロフスク」と表記されることが多い。
